Default Cleaning the Nostalga Keggerator

I tried to clean the Nostalgia keggerator last week and had problems. I used the hand pump kit that is offered here at Micromatic. The problem is that the brass fitting that screws into the shank seems slightly too big. Even with vice grips and the tap wrench, I was barely able to get it in a quarter of a turn. I couldn't even get it in far enough to prevent the cleaning solution coming out the tap wrench holes.

Am I doing something wrong or is the fitting on the Micromatic hand pump cleaning kit just slightly the wrong size?

I think the faucet/shank on the Nostalgia are non-standard.

Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery
and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might
be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself,
"It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than
be selfish and worry about my liver."

It's an ok kit. I hate to repeat it but you get what you pay for. The Nostalga uses a few parts that aren't quite standard but you can find ways to get around them. (3/16 CO2 line for example) If I had to do it again, I probably would of bought a slightly better kit vs. sink extra money (and epically my time) into improving the Nostalga.

I have a Nostalgia and found out the hard way that the thread on the shank is non standard. I tryed to hook up a stout faucet and wound up having very expensive Guinness shoot in 4 different directions from the shank.

Replace the elbow shank and the faucet that originally came with the system, it will save you future headaches.

They must have odd stock laying around. The faucet on mine was non-standard as far as the tap handle threads, but the new faucet threaded into the shank without the slightest problem. Luck of the draw I suppose.
