Need advice on buying a kegerator
I want to buy my husband a dual faucet kegerator for Christmas. I don't want to spend more than $600 to start with. So far I have only found the Haier. Do any of you have any advice. I definately do not want to go with a kit as my husband does not have time to fool with that. We want to be able to have 2 different types of beer. One of which would always be Guiness and another dark beer. Could any of you please offer some assitance? Thanks.

Where are you located? Im currently shooting calls back and forth between an old man that wants to get rid of a supposedly commercial double tap kegerator with a vacuum/compressor to get the beer out instead of a co2 tank as well as a home built fridge kegerator.
If youre anywhere near Missouri/Illinois, it may be worth looking into.
I think he said $100 per fridge but it would be negotiable when I get there
Sorry dont know anything about the out of the box kegerators

Double the money
Take it from a Avanti Owner. Spend more money and get a commercial grade unit.

I went and took a look at that double tapper
Its a Perlick one. All stainless and commercial grade, but damn did it ever smeel like an old stinky barn.
Dirty inside and out to boot.
Would take days to get rid of the dirt and stink

Depends on what you want. I just bought a 20 cubic foot refrigerator/ freezer off of Craigs list for $100. I wanted on with the frezzer on the bottom so I can place my handles nice and high. Then I ordered a double tap door mounted conversion kit. With the 20 cubic foot refridgerator I can fit a 15.5 gallon keg, 5 gallon keg, and my gas canister all inside. Total out pocket $400.00. And it will give your husband a fun little project to build. (Very easy to build just in case he is not handy).

I don't think you'll find a double tap for under or around $600...just none out there, unless used...?

My parts from beverage fact0ry .com cost just a little under $309 including shipping, and the full size Refrigerator off of craigs list was $100. I found several for under $150.00. So you can build one for under $600. You just got to shop around a few minutes for a cheap refrigerator. If you want I will sell you my double for $600. (Then I will build another and pocket the different).

I think your price goal is a little unrealistic for a double tap system using two different gas setups. As previously mentioned, check out beverage fact0ry.com for not only the kegerator units but also the gas/tap setups needed for Guinness vs. 99% of the other beers of the world. Also consider the size the kegs the beers you are interested in are available in and the interior size of the unit you're considering. While I can fit several tall, skinny sixtels in my 'single sized' keg box, there's no way I could fit anything else in there if I already have a 1/2 barrel or another x barrel that is the same diameter as the 1/2 barrel. You'll either need to step up to a 'double sized' unit or you'll have to get the two different gas delivery systems and switch between the two.

If I was going for a double setup, Id either look into getting a professional double tap or convert a large deep freeze.
Id check out ebay auctions in your area for either a cheap deep freeze or a used double tap. Also check craigslist.
