Default Pasteurized Kegs

I am wondering how I can bring a keg of my favorite beer (St. Arnolds) from Houston to SW Florida. If a keg has not been tapped, does it have to be kept cold? If it does have to be kept cold, can I lay it on it's side? I am sure that I could get a 1/4 keg into my Father-in-Laws Lincoln, and he usually drives here only spending one night. If he wraps it up and keeps it cold, how long does it have to be kept at what temperature? One other thing that I thought of...what if I froze the keg? Would that affect the taste? If anyone has ever had to do this, let me know!! Many Thanks...

It must be kept cold if you would like to drink out of it for any length of time (longer than 1 night). Get a big tub like the ones they sometimes rent out at liquor stores for kegs and put ice on it. You can find the tubs at farm supply stores.
