Default Set kegs sideways?

Hello all, I'm new to the forum and the realm of kegoration altogether. Forgive me if my short search overlooked my question here.

I just purchased a used fridge and am trying to decide how I can use its space. The inside leaves just over 27" of horizontal clearance, which raises a question - is it safe to mount a keg on its side and tap it? I understand that there are low profile couplers that would make this amount of clearance acceptable.

Thanks a bunch.

It would likely be perfectly safe. But the tube that the beer dispenses through I don't think would work in a horizontal position.

I figure it would work for the first 1/2, but then the probe would be above the beer causing it to stop pouring till you stand it up straight.

Default try plywood

I just purchased a scratch and dent fridge @ Lowe's whatI have done to solve the space problem is replace stock shelves w/ 23/32 plywood which can be cut to fit around a keg and still leave some shelf space for other stuff.
