Mini fridge

I just recieved my tower kit from micro, and i LOVE it so far. Now for the tricky part, the install

Here is my small problem.

I have a compact refridgerator (a kenmore, not sure of dimensions, but the keg will fit with a little work). The major problem is this: The freezer on the top of the mini fridge, how can i remove the metal plate, or rather, how can i seal the condensor pipe that plugs into the freezer plate? I dont want to spring a leak, but i need to remove this panzy freezer. Has anyone done this before, please help i want to do this today!

Also, is there a simple plug and play digital thermostat i can replace the original thermostat with?
