Question Yet another blower question

Dumb question time.

Please bear with me, as I'm new to this and I want to tap a keg, as soon as possible, but I can't do so, until I have the kegerator completely rehabbed.

I don't want to screw it up. (I did a search, and couldn't find the specifics)

For a 2 1/2" tower, if you enlarge the tower hole to 3", how do you mount the tower to the top? Some type of adapter, (PVC maybe?)

If so, what size?

Thanks!

Just remove the old tower and replace it with the new one. You may want to take a dremel and make the access hole that is in the top of your Avanti a little wider, for more air flow, but since you have purchased a blower there is really no need. it may make more sense after you remove the original tower.

Well the problem is that the screw holes on the new 3" tower do not match with the old screw holes for the POS Avanti 2.5" tower -- I plan on drilling -- anyone else??

Thanks!

I aplogize, that I didn't explain myself clearly enough, (sorry 'bout that!)

I have an older Kenmore.

I'm not replacing the 2.5" tower....I'm installing a blower, and keeping the existing tower. In the course of my research, I read where folks are drilling out 3" holes, ostensibly for more air flow, both in and out of the tower, and so that the blower hose would fit.

I figure that I can make the existing hole wider, to permit more airflsow, but not so wide that the tower won't fit. (I'd rather not buy a new one).

I'll get a much better idea, when I take the top off and see what I have to deal with.

Thanks for your patience!

Why not drill a 2.5" hole instead of a 3" ?

LOL!

I just tore the top, and the tower off, and that's exactly what I'm gonna do!

I need to so the same...

How did you take the top off of the fridge?

I've got a canadian made kegerator (W.C Woods) which doesn't seem to have the problems the Avanti and Danby's have (as far as temp is concern) but I stil need to duct air into the tower.

Let me know how it goes...

The existing hole in the 2.5" tower is small....only barely 1 3/4" I found a piece of PVC pipe, that fits very snugly into the bottom of the tower, (I'll have to break out the dremel tool to make it fit), that way, I can expand the hole to about 2 1/4", which should leave me room for the beer line, blower hose & permit good air circulation throughout the top of the tower and back down into the unit.....

Ours may be different...I have an older Kenmore...the thermostat, and compressor are in the top of the back....there is ~6" metal mesh type screen that is held on by screws, with an L-Bracket on each end.

The L-bracket is screwed to the back of the top, and the back edge of the fridge. Once those screws are undone, then you lift the back of the top off, and slide it off of the fridge, where there are 2 additional brackets, screwed to the underside of the top, that slide into the top of the unit.

I know that's probably hard to envision....I'm going to spend most of the weekend messing with this thing, ( I just picked up most of the rest of the materials needed).

I'll try to post some before, after & during pics....
