Not a hands on guy....what is the best value kegerator??
I've read alot on this forum and basically it seems that alot of entry-level keg coolers suck. My range is $500 and I am not a hands on guy and would worry about messing up an install, so what are my options? Is there one kegerator that is worth it for $500? Or do they all suck?
Thanks in advance. I'm glad I found this forum before I bought anything!

I would go with a refrigerator conversion kit and pick up a used fridge from the paper or craigslist. It requires a little work but not too much. It basically involves drilling a hole in the door and perhaps one on the side. Everything else just kind of bolts together. To get a solid unit you need to spend around a thousand. Micromatic has the Summit which is closer to your price range but it doesn't have a blower in the tower as I understand it. Just my two cents, good luck!

Refer to the link that ashman posted.
The value and the standard kits have most everything you need. The difference is that the standard kit has a drip tray which you would mount to the fridge door. This keeps things neat when it comes to dripping beer. I would recommend the premium kit, this one has everything you need including a cleaning kit which is important. It also comes with a drip tray that is easier to mount.
This link will supply you with a bunch of info on converting a fridge: http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-...lio-cid-4.html
Hope this helps.

So is the tower kit better for small fridges and the door kit better for full size fridges??
If there is not other differnce, I am leaning towards the tower kit because I think it looks cleaner.

With the tower kits, you need to install a blower which is what you were trying to avoid doing. The door kits do not require a blower to keep the lines cool. With regards to size you just need to find a fridge that will fit the size kegs you want.

You don't have to be. You just need to know someone who is that likes beer.
