co2 tank placement

im converting a kenmore elite 4.9 that has a back plate cooling element and no freezer, i had read that someone suggested using a pair of bungee cords to mount the co2 tank against the cooling element... i was wondering if this was wise, or if it would make the co2 too cold..
any suggestions?

From what I know, the cooler the gas the less you are going to get from the tank. I always place mine outside unless absolutely necessary.

thanks for the help, one other question-
should i do anything in particular to the beer line/ coupler etc before tapping the first keg (does it need to be rinsed w/ the cleaning agent?)... also will there be any plastic taste detectable?

You could clean it, you could just it out or you can just pour a beer. If it tastes funny you could always go back and clean it. When I do commercial work, I clean the system before putting it into use, at home I just pour the beer. No funny tastes yet.
