Default hooked up wrong?

really not much of a chance of hooking it up wrong, I dont think. one line comes off the co2 regulator into the side of the keg tapper, the beer line comes off the top of the tapper into the faucet. when I got mine and I still do this. hook up tapper to keg, push down handle until it locks, turn on co2 bottle, and then adjust the pressure to bout 12psi. when u bring a fresh keg home u should let it set for a few hours in the kegerator to let the beer settle down, and dont hook it up. also put a good thermometer in a cup of water and put it inside, should read approx. 38f after 24 hours

Thanks for the input - I will try it again later after everything settles down. Maybe that was the problem.

If it is reading 18psi and the beer is still coming out slowly, you may not have turned on the secondary shut off valve on the C02. Since you have a good reading I am guessing that you opened the pressure coming out of the tank, but you will also find a valve where the hose to the keg meets the regulator, make sure that is in the open position as well and you may solve your problem. If these are both open and the beer is still ultra-slow then you may have a big time leak. I don't think any of the problems listed by topgun would really result in a slow pour, just more foam.

good point Bigstein on the valve coming off the regulator, totally forgot bout that one. on mine I dont use that one anyway, as it is always open and use the regulator knob adjustment, comes from being a welder all these years and adjusting certain gas flows []

Good news (and bad) - turns out something was wrong with the tap (I have yet to determine exactly what). I tried it with a different one from the local pub and it now works perfectly! Thanks, everyone, for your input. I did learn a lot from you all.
