Default Questions about building air cooled system

Thanks to everyone for all the great info on this site. I've learned from this forum that the plans I had in my head for my basement bar is actually called a air cooled/remote draw system.

I going to have a Sanyo 4912 or equivalent refrig located in unfinished side of basement directly behind the bar back where the beer tower will be located, so the distance of the beer line from the refrig to facuet will not exceed 3ft.

I plan to use 1" tube over the 3/16"beer line for the cold air tube and 3" over that covered with insulation. My question is how important is it to use aluminum tubing for the two air lines or will a cheaper flexilble material be sufficient? I see the flexible aluminum tubing on this site is only sold in 25ft. lenghts and I only need approx. 3ft.

Also, is "Great Stuff" generally considered the best thing to use to seal around the hole in the refrig for where the tubing comes out?

You could use something other than flexible aluminium duct. If you go to Home Depot you can find stuff in their plumbing section which they will sell by the foot. The more flexibe, the easier it will be to work with so keep that in mind. Also I use great stuff too, I am not sure if there is a better alternative so I would be intersted to hear what others have to say as well.

3'' pvc would also work if it is a straight run, or even a section of dryer vent hose would work if you need flexability. Tapman
