  • Switching CO2 Tank Mid Keg

Can you do this? Say you have to replace or refill your CO2 tank and you're keg is half or 3/4 full. What's the safest way to do this without losing any beer?

I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Either uncouple the keg or if you have one, turn the valve underneath the regulator to the off position. Turn off the valve on the tank, then remove the regulator. Replace tank and tighten. Open tank valve all the way to properly seat the regualtor and then open the valve underneath.

How long can the keg be hooked up before beer goes flat? Do I ever unhook the CO2 from the keg? Want to make sure I don't waste any beer.

The beer shouldn't go flat once hooked up. The co2 not only dispenses, but maintains carbonation as well if set correctly. The only time you need to unhook the co2 is if you are changing kegs and or co2 bottles.
Malt is the soul of beer... and yeast gives it life..
but the kiss of the hop is the vitality of that life!

My three favorite beers: The one I just had, the one I'm drinking now and the next one I'll have.
