Default Can one person run line cleaning business

Just looking at picking up around 60 accounts.. 2-3 a day

Is it possible / is it unusual for just one person to work the cooler and tower or do you "really" need 2 people?

Thanks!

Be a one man show for 2.5 years, a few accounts a helper would be a time saver but most accounts one person is plenty. I have abot 50 accounts with varying service intervals from 2 weeks to 2 months and from a single tap to 24 faucets.

I've been running the numbers based on what people have said the national average is ($6/line, minimum $25 per stop), and as such, it seems to be a low wage type of job by the time you subtract expenses & time (drive time, cleaning time, gas, taxes, insurance, etc).

Which might be the reason there's always a demand for line cleaners.

So, it might be worth considering a couple of things here.

First, set a minimum of $50/stop including the first 4 lines with $10/line extra. At every two weeks, that works out to be $25/week for the owner if they clean every two weeks, which isn't much if they have a fairly good business. If they think it's too much, then they're probably facing trouble sooner or later, in which case those aren't the ones you want to spend a lot of time building relationships with.

Or focus only on installations.

Not to be a nay-sayer but in most markets $50 mnimum would either get you thrown out or laughed at. Bar owners are under attack from lawmakers, law enforcers, tax men, neo prohibitionists, and every regulatory agency out there. $50 every 2 weeks, $1300 a year, that is a bunch of money most bars won't spend.

Most people in the business are part time people without insurance who work cheap and don't even realize they arn't making money until they have a vehicle breakdown or are sued.

It takes a few years to build a solid business. The trick is to find a few places that have a pouring problem and tell them you will fix their problem free if they will give you their line cleaning job at $ 6 per line or whatever you charge. After a while customers will be seeking you out based on your reputation. Then you have to group them so all your jobs on a day are in the same area. From there you can sell off the small accounts and take new accounts with a minimum of 8 lines and eventually you will make a living wage.
