    Default Beer Line Cleaning Insurance

I have opened a new business cleaning beer lines & taps. I had a question regarding business insurance. I have contacted the insurance company that I use for home owners and vehicles. Unfortunately, they are unable to help me because the business is alcohol related. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for business insurance. What insurance companies out there offer good rates and good coverage? Are there any ideas on a rough cost of insurance for this type of business? Thank you in advance for any replies!

Most of us end up with a contractors policy, mine runs me about $600 per year. I would ask your agent to second guess the ability to underwrite by asking him to talk to the actual company about what you do. I could be wrong but they should see this as a construction/service based business not one dealing with the production or service (direct) of alcohol. I use State Farm.

We carry 2m in liability insurance and it includes "Bonding" my guys for $5K each. Total cost is 1100 per yr. We're in Canada, where people are not looking to sue everyone for everything (like the folks to the south of us...)
To mirror Ed's thoughts, you should be insured as a contractor/service repair person/company, nothing to do with alcohol…unless your serving at each account.

    Default State Farm

OK...I contacted a State Farm Agent and this was his reply:

"I forwarded your request to one of my underwriters and he is helping me find which state class code your business would fall under. If you know what the other businesses that have coverage with state farm are classed as, get that to me. I know that sounds lame......but there is not a designated slot for your business in Michigan...but my underwriter feels that it would be a very easy business to rate and write a policy for."

Any idea on what the state class code is for your business? Also, what state are you working in? If you can help me with this info, maybe I can get the agent on the right track. Thanks again!!

We're insured in PA under a contractors policy, classified under plumbing. I went to a insurance broker. Initially, (first year) the rates were higher and then with out claims became reasonable. If you have employees your rate will be adjusted according to your payroll. Ed from Blue Line said he uses state farm in New Hampshire, when he reads your post he'll be happy to help you out!
