homebrew kegerator
tired of bottling i decided to start using 5 gallon pepsi kegs. as the president of our homebrew club i have 12 or so carboys of beer at all times and found it too much hassle to bottle it. the corny kegs have been great for storing copious amounts of beer and in order to dispense it i decided to build a kegerator. i used an old fridge and instaled 3 faucets on the right side of the fridge. i decided to install the faucets on the side to make the fridge easier to access and because the wall was easier to drill and is stronger for supporting the faucet assembly. there are no lines going to the door getting in the way when i pull kegs in or out and i was able to keep the lines shorter.
now my only problem is keeping beer around with all my buddies drinking out of my kegerator! i found i go through much more now that it's so easy. my wife loves it because she can poor herself half a glass instead of a whole bottle. i like it because i can condition and drink brew that usually takes weeks to accomplish in less than a day now. i don't have to use bottling sugar and can fine tune the CO2 level to my taste. my beer is kept at a constant temp and no longer fills the food fridge with bottles. i have up to 15 gallons of homebrew on hand at all times without yeast in the bottom of each bottle and the need to pull out of the crawl space and refridgerate before drinking.
since my kegerator was born we have built them for the rest of the club members. now we spend our time brewing instead of bottling!
