Default bev-air thermostat replacement

was repairing an old beverage-air kegerator, took down the drip pan
to fix some holes. when i put it back up and turned it on, zap, the
therostat coil had touched the switch, blew a hole in the thermo coupling so i need to buy a new one. this switch only turns off the compressor leaves the fan running. the end of the thermocouple is enclosed in a copper tube that is inserted into the cooling fins. anyone know where to get a replacement? Dont want to be cheap but would like to keep the cost down due to the age of fridge. maybe a retro fit of some kind.
thanks for any help
Jeff
