If it's a permanent system you shouldn't be putting a cold plate in it. Cold plates are designed for short time use, in coolers for special events. Under these circumstances you need to keep the barrel under 50 degrees, the cold plate on a rack in the cooler with drain open, and ice on it. Running the beer at 26-28 lbs will work fine for one event usage. There is absolutley no good reason to put a cold plate in a permanent install!
