Nope... same-o, same-o. At least on my setup. Maybe the age of the unit makes a difference. Mine was Manufactured in November 2005 according to the data plate.
On another note, I bought one of the circulating fans similar to what MM sells.
15cfm 120v. Standard squirrel cage blower, has a Dayton motor with an 1 1/2" outlet. Anyway, I test ran it on the bench for a couple of hrs.... Boy, does it get warm..not hot, but pretty warm. I hope that installing this motor to cool the tower won't be counterproductive. I am using some HVAC insulation (shiny silver bubble wrap) to insulate the tower and cap. I need to make a hose adapter for the blower. MM sells one for 45 bucks, but it looks like its just a copper ell silver soldered to a mounting plate.
So far, the external temp controller is working extremely well. We just went through a couple of weeks of 100+ degree weather and now it is 95 and very muggy. It maintained a liquid temp (beer) of 37 degrees. This unit is set up in my garage, and not in the air conditioned house...Perfect! (just not real happy with my last choice of beers, but any cold beer on a hot humid day goes down good!)

BEER--- the perfect FOOD!
