Default Left handed thread on regulator

I need to convert all of my CO2 regulators to 1/8" NPT on the input and output. I am using smaller tanks that that will be remote from the regulator. My primary regs are all left handed thread on the high side and I cannot find any fittings other than plugs that are LH. My secondary regs are all RH thread on the high side. Is there a reason for the use of LH thread? Is there a fitting that converts 1/4" LH to 1/4" RH? Or can I switch the internal components of the primary and secondary regulators to make what I want?
