I also have a Danby kegerator. I find the temp gauge to be only usefull in seeing when it is in a defrost cycle. I taped a temp probe to the side of my keg and confirmed that the temp was 38 degrees. I have the same tower problem too. I did replace the beer line with 6' of 3/16" tubing and that has made a big difference, 3' of 1/4" just won't work.
