New kenmore, confused
I bought a new kenmore kegerator 3 weeks ago. I put a 1/4 of coors light in it. I kept opening the door to adjust my co2 psi so a little frost built up on my cold plate which is normal. I didn't have a thermometer inside it but I adjusted the knob a little everyday until the beer was cold to my liking. I almost had it turned the whole way to the coldest setting. The other day I thought that I emptied the barrel and there was still some beer inside that was in a frozen chunk. It wasn't much but still it was frozen. I got another 1/4 keg and tapped it and I placed a fridgerator thermometer inside of it at the bottom. After a day thermometer read 42. I turned the cold knob bit to get it colder and the next day it was 32. IN fear of freezing the keg again a turned it back warmer. There was a little frost on the cold plate at this point. A couple times a day the unit started making a very loud humming noise that it never made before. I checked the temp a few hours later and it was 44 and there was no more frost on the cold plate but there was some ice beneath the plate. Is there something wrong with this unit being that it makes the loud humming at times, the drastic changes in temperature, and the sudden loss of frost on the cold plate? I looked on sears website and in the manual and it doesn't say anything about auto defrost. Please can someone give me some advice so I know whether to return this and get another kenmore unit or even go to home depot or sam's club and get the danby instead?
