How long has it been since you cleaned your system? I would recommend soaking the faucet and shank in warm water then try to seperate them.
The faucet should be easy to remove if cleaned on a frequent basis. The washer at the back of the faucet has probably deteriated or dried out, either of which would cause a leak.
Other possibility is the shank collar and shank ring. These hold the faucet collar on.
If the leak is coming out of the holes in the faucet collar (ring that holds faucet to shank) then replace the faucet washer.
If the leak is coming out where the shank enters the tower, replace the shank collar and shank ring.
