Default 2 keg kegerator ?

My roommates and I have recently finished our kegerator. It is just in a fridge with a 15lb CO2, regulator, D Coupler, tubing and a single tap. We filled it with cheap beer for parties because we can't afford to pay for good beer all the time. On the other hand we still would love to have some good beer throughout the week and at the start of parties. We purchased a pony keg and was wondering if there was a way to have them both in the fridge and just switch the coupler back and forth (they are both American kegs). In heard that turning the Co2 off will keep the keg longer, but I don't think that is right. Also would switching the coupler on the kegs introduce bacteria that would make them go bad sooner. We know that you can buy a splitter for the Co2 tank and another coupler and tap, but we just payed tuition and we don't get payed for a few more week and so can't afford it quite yet. So is there any way to do this without ruining both kegs? shoot me an e-mail or reply. Thanks
