Air flow to bar mounted tower
I just bought a bunch of hosing and tubing tonight to begin working on mounting my tower to the top of the bar. Will only be about 6" from the bar to the top of the Danby and I want to air cool up into the tower.
I see where some people have cut a 3" diameter hole in the top of the Danby when air cooling their tower to have proper air flow returning to inside the kegerator. So I did buy 3" flexible duct and can proceed with this.
The question I have is should I just mount the blower fan so it's blowing up that duct to the tower? The two beer lines (I have a two tap tower) will be running inside the duct, so that air blowing up should cool the beer lines as well as the tower with plenty of space for returning air. I'll also be insulating the outside of the duct to help keep the air cool.
I see other guys have used tubing to carry the cooled air into the tower, but those guys just need to cool the tower and not an exposed length of beer tubing.
This sound like a good plan?
I also have 1.5" ID hose that the beer lines can run through and have the blower blowing the cold air up that hose. That would eliminate me needing to cutting a 3" hole in the Danby, but from what I read it might not be large enough for proper air flow. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Rick
